Clinton starts shifting her focus to the unpredictable Trump

Sanders voters divide on whether Clinton is running a fair or a dirty campaign.

Meanwhile, with Trump leading in all the states going to the polls Tuesday except Texas, the New York Times said Trump has an opportunity to amass more delegates and put much more distance between him and Rubio and Cruz. Several have large minority populations. Among older African-Americans, it was pathetic, from our perspective. Tomorrow, voters in 12 states will cast their ballots, something that will divide up 661 Republican and 865 Democratic delegates.

Sanders, expecting defeat, left the state even before voting was finished and turned his attention to next Tuesday’s delegate-rich contests.

The self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist also called for universal healthcare, free college tuition, investing in America’s infrastructure and reforming the nation’s criminal justice system.

While the decision to flee SC on the night of the primary suggested that Sanders had already given up on the state, it also belied his campaign’s last-ditch efforts to make an impact there. “We are not taking anything, and we are not taking anyone, for granted”, Clinton said.

Clinton meanwhile was riding high after thrashing rival Bernie Sanders in SC over the weekend, securing an astronomical 86 percent of the African-American vote in her third win in four contests.

Clinton’s victory came at the end of a day that saw Republican candidates firing insults at each other from Super Tuesday states.

During an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, Sanders acknowledged he was “decimated” by Clinton, who won by roughly 50 percentage points in SC.

How long have the Democrats been using superdelegates at conventions?

“Believe it or not, we’re going to unify this country”, he said.

“I’m going to need your help here in Oklahoma on Tuesday”, Sanders told over 6,000 cheering fans, after offering his trademark lines about breaking up big financial institutions and reforming the campaign finance system.

“She is also a colleague in Congress and a friend, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside her when our Party unites behind whoever emerges as our nominee”.

Sanders receives some delegates even if he loses.

In a rare sign of agreement between the rivals, Clinton re-tweeted Sanders’s comment. Sanders’ digital fundraising operation – buoyed by a strong email list, text pleas and a base of support built with young voters – has proven to be one of his campaign’s most effective tools.

Still, he did invest heavily in SC, with 200 paid staff on the ground and an aggressive television advertising campaign.

Trump seems certain to achieve a massive win in Alabama’s primary on Super Tuesday.

On Sunday, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii resigned as vice chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and endorsed Sanders.

She adds racism and sexism to that list, among other barriers. More than the number who voted in the SC primary. Seven of the states voting Tuesday are in the South, where, unlike New Hampshire, black voters make up a significant part of the Democratic electorate.

The email releases have allowed for an inside view of Clinton’s time in office from mundane discussions to high-level debates on issues ranging from American-backed intervention in Libya in 2011 to her lobbying for a free trade deal in Colombia.

These pledges are not binding, and Clinton held a similar advantage over then-Senator Barack Obama in 2008.
