Buick Encore Sport Touring
Based on the small Encore CUV, the new Sport Touring comes with a new turbocharged engine, full body kit upgrade, and some new standard equipment. “The all-new Encore Sport Touring broadens that base, giving customers more choices – along with more performance, more technology and more efficiency”. If you’re keeping track, that’s 11 percent more power and a 20 percent increase in twist compared to the standard engine.

As with last year’s model, front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available. At least the Encore’s Convenience package (120-volt power outlet, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lamps, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and remote engine starting) is standard, as is Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system with Onstar 4G LTE, a backup camera, and heated side mirrors.
The Encore Sport Touring model will go on sale this fall with a new 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine under the hood.
The Encore has been a hot seller for GM, with sales up by 29 percent in the first half of the year.
“With more performance, technology and efficiency, the all-new Encore Sport Touring is a driving force behind Buick’s expansion and a catalyst for introducing a new generation of customers to the brand”, said Mike Speranzini, brand director, Buick in Canada.
The Sport Touring model also will get some of its own exterior styling cues, including a new rear spoiler and 18-inch, aluminum wheels. The aluminum-block inline-four has several updates to reduce noise and vibration, and it also comes standard with a stop-start feature to reduce fuel consumption.
Buick hardly has the small SUV market to itself, though, so it’s making tweaks to the Encore for 2016 by adding a Sport Touring trim.
A variable-flow oiling system that helps maximize fuel efficiency.
The cylinder head has a water-cooled exhaust manifold integrated within the aluminum casting. The more powerful engine could help the Encore maintain its leading position.
Along with performance and efficiency, the new 1.4L engine offers excellent refinement, with low vibration and noise levels – a hallmark of Buick’s commitment to quiet vehicles.

The front-end accessory drive features an overriding alternator coupler to remove the effect of crankshaft oscillations.
