Minnesota voters have say in high-stakes Super Tuesday

Minnesota isn’t the largest state of the 12 holding caucuses and primaries on Super Tuesday, but analysts say it is big enough to have an impact.

Minnesotans will have the opportunity to support candidates for US president and Minnesota Legislature and discuss issues at political party precinct caucuses Tuesday, March 1.

Doors to the Minneapolis Convention Center open at 10:30 a.m. Sanders was in Minnesota last week for rallies in Hibbing and Rochester.

Why a caucus and not a primary?

Sanders offered a series of areas where he’s different from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, including his opposition to super PACs, his vote against the Iraq war and his rejection of trade deals. Despite the best efforts of Cruz, Rubio and Sanders, most pundits expect Clinton and Trump to go head-to-head for the White House in the fall.

“Minnesota still has a mostly white, young and very liberal population that still has a very important role for labor unions”, Schultz said. Clinton is expected to be in Minnesota through the day doing retail politics. Cruz will stay in his home state of Texas and Rubio is putting extra focus on Minnesota.
