How Bernie Sanders Could Win Super Tuesday

COLUMBIA, S.C.-Hillary Clinton won a decisive victory Saturday in the South Carolina Democratic primary – a win that should propel her on a path to the presidential nomination that eluded her in 2008. Even though the numbers in SC do not exactly show the true outcome of the primary, it does bring a sense of strong outcome for the Clinton campaign for Tuesday. “We’re here to win North Carolina and we believe as long as we’re able to talk to the voters of North Carolina, we can win here”, said Dew.

Black primary voters were more likely to say they trust Clinton over Sanders to handle race relations, with more than 4 in 10 saying they only trust her and less than 1 in 10 saying they only trust him.

Clinton left for Tennessee shortly after claiming victory in SC and in the coming days she will visit Arkansas, Virginia and MA, among other states, in an effort to solidify her support. “America has never stopped being great, but we do need to make America whole again”, she added.

Clinton also took a swipe at Republican candidate Donald Trump’s “make America great again” slogan. “Tearing people down is easy-building them up is what we need to do”.

“There is only one candidate that has to win SC and it is not Bernie Sanders”, said SC state Rep. Justin Bamberg, a Sanders supporter, on Saturday.

In total, 865 Democratic delegates to the party’s national nominating convention are up for grabs in the Super Tuesday contests in 11 states and American Samoa.

Bernie Sanders packed another campaign rally here Sunday night, with the kind of display of enthusiasm that he hopes will power him to a series of victories on Super Tuesday. “I will tell you the answer to that on Wednesday, how’s that?” he said.

Polls show the race in MA close, which explains why both Sanders and Clinton are campaigning there Monday.

Still, Sanders has vowed to fight all the way to the Democratic convention in July. Hillary also won most women and voters aged 30 and older, according to early exit polls.

“You go through this process and you see all the opportunities that he has”, said Tad Devine, Sanders’ senior adviser.

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders may be fierce combatants on the campaign trail, but when it comes to Donald Trump, there is no daylight between them. Sanders voters divide on whether Clinton is running a fair or a dirty campaign.

For example, iconic civil rights leader U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., is stumping for Clinton.

The fact Sanders has hardly any backing in that category supports his anti-establishment appeal. “And I’m going to need your help to win the general election”.

The poll was completed before the SC results were known.

She mentioned a program her husband, former President Bill Clinton created, New Market Tax Credits, and said that while she was in SC, she was told about a factory there that used the tax credits to create a number of new jobs. Senator Ted Cruz won in 2012 with one-third of the Latino vote while in 2014 Governor Greg Abbot won with 44 percent of the Latino vote. She held almost a 3-to-1 lead with black voters, despite Sanders’ focus on African-American pastors, college students and lawmakers. It gives Sanders big wins in Vermont and Minnesota.

Once the voting in the SC primary was over, and even before, Sanders was speaking to huge crowds in Dallas, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Kansas City. Landing in Minnesota, he learned the parameters of his defeat, and learned the Minneapolis Star Tribune had endorsed Clinton.
