Tottenham continue to harvest rewards from Mauricio Pochettino’s methods

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday laughed off Leicester City counterpart Claudio Ranieri’s claim that his team are the favourites for the Premier League title. Although they have quite a tough run home when compared to Leicester’s, they have an opportunity to potentially knock Arsene Wenger and his team out of the title race with a win over their North London rivals in Saturday’s derby.

‘Tottenham is in my opinion the favourites, then Arsenal then Manchester City.

‘Tottenham are strong in every situation, when they defend and when they attack, they know very well what they want, ‘ said Ranieri.

“The most important thing is we showed we believed in them from the beginning of pre-season”.

“Everybody is speaking about Leicester and nobody is speaking about Tottenham”, said Ranieri ahead of their mid-week match against West Bromwich Albion [via the Mirror].

He added: “We are in a good place but we are trying to win the next game”. Are we accountable? Are you grabbing someone or are you being grabbed because you’re not doing your job.

The quality 18-year-old forward became a huge hit at Old Trafford scoring four times in his first two matches and you could forgive him for thinking he was already a global superstar.

The French manager has been reluctant to sign stellar players during recent windows but it appears he might now be prepared to sign the very best, in order to win the title once more.

“Hopefully at the end of the week we’ll be in a good position”.

So, despite Pochettino’s exhaustive focus on fitness, Spurs’ high-pressing game could see fatigue finally kick in.

“We have learned a lot and improved”.

“We need to play our game, but we need to create more opportunities through our general play”, Curtis explained. “We have that collective and it is a big achievement for the squad and we need to protect that”.

The confidence is palpable and there were flashes of boldness from Pochettino, even if he will not be drawn from his one-game-at-a-time mantra. I am very confident with him. That will take them to the point of having just three matches left, where they will play Manchester United, Everton and Chelsea, knowing full well that none of those clubs have come close to beating them this season.

League leaders Leicester City are the club that fans around the world are hoping will walk away with the Premier League title at the end of the season.
