Real dogs do not, for one, welcome their robotic overlords.

Poor Spot. Boston Dynamics’ robots have never had it easy, what with everyone constantly abusing them. According to Captain James Pineiro, the head of the Ground Combat Element branch at the Warfighting Lab spot and LS3 are both in storage with no future experiments or upgrades planned.

However, Mr Jurvetson praised the robot’s lifelike movement, which certainly captured the attention of Alex. Also adding “And the tradition of the uncanny valley continues …”

The US military recently decided that Google’s Alpha Dog and Spot robots weren’t ready for active duty, leaving the four legged robots with nothing to do. To the un-canine valley!’ Now jobless, Spot apparently has nothing better to do than to terrorize a schnauzer, as you can see in the video below.

However, in the latest video it appears the dog is being completely controlled by a human operator.

The video of the rumble in the auto park is on YouTube in case anyone is wondering how much more Google could have to do with this, and is presented by someone who shares a lot of video of the Boston Dynamics roving robots.

In trials, Spot was shown to be able to walk and run over rugged terrain, following a soldier while carrying 400lbs (181kg) of their kit and weapons.
