The crash happened during the dinner rush Tuesday evening at Sweet Tomatoes Pizza in Newton, a suburb of Boston.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says seven other people were injured and were rushed to area hospitals. A Google image shows the scene before the crash.

Witnesses said the SUV did not appear to try and stop before crashing, hitting several people. The driver and a male customer are listed in fair condition. Ryan says all of the employees have been accounted for. But before the taps were hung, a Volkwagen SUV could be seen among the debris.

The medical examiner’s van left the scene with the victims’ bodies at approximately 10:15 p.m. Firefighters and police officers had shielded the bodies from public view with sheets and tarps.
