After scoring the winning three-point shot on Saturday night, Stephen Curry uses his arms to demonstrate to the Oklahoma City Thunder crowd how deep his range is.
Shooting guard Klay Thompson had seven points in the extra session, and power forward Draymond Green buried a back-breaking, desperation 3-pointer with 40.2 seconds remaining, allowing the Warriors to win a 43rd straight at home with their fifth overtime victory of the season. He finished with 12 threes, tying an National Basketball Association single-game record.
Lowry led the Raptors to a 3-1 week (3-0 in games in which he appeared) behind averages of 28.7 points (first in the Eastern Conference), 8.7 assists (tied-second in the conference) and 6.3 rebounds. Curry still has 24 more games to play.
Curry said his ankle was very sore on the team’s off day and that he knows he has to be careful in the coming days even though he risked returning to the game to deliver his remarkable heroics.
The ball floated toward the basket, and long before it splashed through, Oklahoma City center Enes Kanter had already thrown his hands in the air in defeat.
“As a team, we’re past it. I would say it reminds me of several incidents of every single year on every team I’ve ever been on”. A shot like the one Curry took, they determined, would be expected to go in only about 17% of the time.
Warriors: Host Thunder on Thursday after 121-118 overtime win at Oklahoma City on Saturday. The trip set us up to go for that 1 seed in the West, which is our goal.
Curry’s coach, Steve Kerr, was a long-time Chicago Bulls teammate of Michael Jordan who won six championships.
“We feel like our guys are pretty fresh, and we haven’t had to sit guys”, he said.
After an ugly loss in Phoenix on the second night of a back-to-back, the Grizzlies are still 34-24 and face a week full of winnable games starting at Denver on Monday and followed with home games against the Kings, Jazz and Suns. Just a special, resourceful, instinctive and clutch basketball player who rediscovered his long-range shot just in the nick of time Tuesday night.
