Super Tuesday: Democratic and Republican results
It’s called Super Tuesday for a reason. The state’s Republicans have said they have no interest in following suit.

There has been tremendous interest in this year’s presidential election. Walter Mondale survived the loss of seven states to his main opponent, but nabbed the eventual nomination at the Democratic National Convention. Until 2004, these Southern primaries were held the week following Super Tuesday.
Which states will be voting?
Super Tuesday has hit, and presidential candidates from across both party lines are in the midst of vying for victory in 13 different states, and one territory.
In Colorado, there will be caucuses for both parties.
But the key to winning the nomination for each party is ultimately not about the popular vote.
Q: How many delegates are there? The number of delegates and how they are selected varies from state to state. An 1,015 delegates are up for grabs for the Democrats. Nicole Freed, a disabled 32-year-old Army veteran who served in Iraq, said she cast her primary ballot for Republican Marco Rubio with the simple aim of knocking Donald Trump off the Republican ballot in November. Ted Cruz is leading in his home state, according to new polls released Sunday. In addition to celebrating his win over Florida’s Marco Rubio in Virginia, he also highlighted polls showing he is likely to win the Sunshine State later this month.
Republican Primaries are being held in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia.
Lisa Connors, spokeswoman for Fairfax County’s Office of Elections, said that as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, roughly 23 percent of the county’s 700,000 registered voters had cast ballots. Republicans will also hold a caucus in Alaska and Democrats will caucus in American Samoa and Colorado. In Virginia’s open primaries, voters have a choice of casting ballots in either the Democratic or Republican races. Democrats allocate their delegates proportionally, but also have a large group of “superdelegates” who may vote as they choose at the convention.

Lee Ohnstad, 37, who supports Democrat Hillary Clinton for president, voted instead for Sen. Although Obama won more states overall, Clinton won states with higher numbers of delegates.
