Tiger Woods says he’s feeling better, but no plan for return yet

He is working out and getting stronger, though he still has a long way to go.

Asked again about a possible date for his return, he replied: “I don’t really know”.

Wearing a charcoal vest, pink polo and gray slacks, Woods looked fit and healthy, his upper body as chiseled as ever.

There’s a new gem of a golf course in Montgomery County called Bluejack National, but it’s a first for Tiger Woods. All told, Woods isn’t in a position to say when he’ll return to competition. But I’m in a heck of a lot better place than I was in December.

Day is so hell-bent on reaching new heights, finding another gear and sustaining it that he made a phone call to the one player who knows better than anyone else what it’s like to sustain otherworldly success: Tiger Woods. Woods walked all 10 holes with no noticeable limp or any outward pain and even hopped up a pair of steps to get his press conference, dispelling recent rumors that he had suffered an injury setback.

“Welcome to my life”, he said.

The legendary American, who has not played competitively since the Wyndham Championship last August, gave another update on his progress on Wednesday, while again stopping short of announcing a likely return date. He has battled injuries for the past several years, and he underwent the second and third surgeries on his back late last year.

“When dealing with nerves, there is no timetable and everyone heals differently and every nerve is slightly different”.

And so he waits, for baby steps and benchmarks.

Jason Day had a pretty good year in 2015. I’ve played through a lot of injuries. “But I’ve cost myself some other tournaments by pushing through that, and I’ve cost myself months – and years because of it. But that’s what athletes do. They’re always pushing the envelope to compete at the highest level”. For me right now, I’m very, very motivated to get back there.

“I couldn’t play with my kids; I wasn’t able to throw and play catch with my son”. It’s their first time being in the same tournament since September. Their conversation lasted about 50 minutes, according to Day, and Woods was steadfast in his advice to the world’s No. 2 player. Woods dropped a ball, swung his putter and tried to match Crozier.
