We want her home, says drowned girl’s father

Harry Williams, the partner of Jessica’s sister Polly, paid tribute to her on Facebook, saying: ” Remember Jess for all the beauty she had in her, a caring intelligent girl who had endless understanding and maturity. We lost our lovely, loving and kind daughter Jessica in tragic circumstances in France.

He said she was “Mum’s baby girl” and “Dad’s birthday girl”, adding: “We all love you and miss you”. All our love forever and ever. We will never forget you.

A lifeguard dived twice before managing to bring Jessica to the surface on the third attempt.

This is 12-year-old Jessica Lawson who died on a schooltrip to France. The school staff in France have the situation in hand and have been joined by two senior staff from the school, who travelled overnight to the activity centre site to provide further support.

The incident happened at the Club Correze adventure centre in Meymac, on a six-day trip run by the Activ4 tour operator.

Senior members of staff have travelled to the area to help the school party.

“We have been in contact with the family to offer our support and assistance at this hard time”.

The school trip was organised by the company Activ4.

“There are so many benefits to young people getting involved in sporting activities, in outdoor education; health benefits, benefits to developing their confidence and character and so on and while obviously one accident is too many, we really need to make sure we understand those benefits as well as the risks”.

Sirina Leigh, 12, who used to go to street dance classes with Jessica, left a floral tribute at the gate of the school with a note reading: “You were such an fantastic friend”.

Jessica’s death comes just 10 days after a teenager died during a swimming trip while on a school rugby tour to Canada.
