Microsoft gives Windows 10 upgrades a boot up
“As we shared in late October on the Windows Blog, we are committed to making it easy for our Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 customers to upgrade to Windows 10”, a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge.

Microsoft warned users against turning off automatic updates in order to avoid the upgrade, suggesting that Windows 10 is better placed to deal with internet threats.
The company had already announced that they intend to come out with this move in the early days of 2016, and that day is finally here, as Microsoft has now introduced the Windows 10 OS as a recommended update.
It says its new operating system, which Microsoft launched last summer, has faster startup times and is safer than Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, and it’s been widely embraced.
True to yesterday’s unofficial announcement, Microsoft has started rolling out its latest Windows 10 upgrade offensive.
In less than six months since its release, Windows 10 has already gotten enough installations to surpass the number of Windows XP users or Windows 8.1 users.
“The new experience has begun to roll out in a phased approach to more Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 customers, although we do not have any information to share at this time with respect to individual regions”.
If you’re running Windows 7, open the Control panel and go to the Windows Update section.
As we draw closer to the free update cut-off date, we expect Windows 10’s market share to increase. While these updates do not address fundamental issues with your computer or Windows software, they can offer meaningful improvements. Users on Windows XP aren’t eligible to receive security updates from the company. That’ll bring you back to your previous version of Windows, including your apps and settings.
As mentioned, you can install apps and games from the Windows Store on up to 10 devices.
Windows 10 had trailed both XP and Windows 8.1 in December.
And once you upgrade to Windows 10, you might be ceding control over future upgrades to Microsoft. That notion of saying, Hey, Apple wants to sell you an iPad and they want to sell you a Mac, we think there’s one device that exploits the seam between those two devices. For an OEM version, if you change the motherboard, automatically, your free upgrade will be invalidated; meaning, you will have to purchase a new full retail Windows 10 license.

Because the Windows 10 license was previously in use on another computer, you will need to reactivate by telephone or use Contact Support.
