Six Flags introduces “fighter pilot” VR ride
Today, Six Flags announced it’s partnering with Samsung to bring virtual reality to nine of their most popular coasters. The VR goggles basically serve up additional sensory experiences – for example, riders may be transported to the future to save the world from aliens.

The roller coasters will be equipped to allow riders to wear Samsung Gear VR headsets to customize their ride experience.
The New Revolution is one of 19 roller coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain, which holds the Guinness World Record for most coasters in a theme park and is the ideal addition to the park’s world-class coaster collection, joining other adrenaline-pumping coasters including Twisted Colossus – the world’s longest hybrid coaster; Full Throttle – the world’s largest looping coaster; Tatsu – the tallest, fastest and longest flying coaster in the world; X2 – the world’s first and only 5 dimensional coaster; and Goliath – the “giant among giants” mega coaster.
The partnership includes the debut of new experiences coming to nine Six Flags parks.
It’s worth noting here that visitors still physically go on a moving roller coaster – there would be little point traveling to a theme park simply to sit on a chair or simulator.

On the new Superman Virtual Reality Coasters, riders will be fully immersed in the 360-degree comic book world of Metropolis. The aircraft races through the city until reaching the edge of the skyline where riders see the mother ship hovering above. They’ll encounter Lex Luther creating chaos with an anti-gravity gun and soar along Superman as he saves the day. We won’t spoil the details here, but the experience is all about Superman battling supervillain Lex Luthor and his army of Lex Bots “through hairpin twists and turns, loops, dips, and dives”.
