With the loss of Fromm, Alabama does not have a quarterback in the Class of 2017.

The battle at the quarterback position in 2017 just got a little bit tougher at the University of Georgia. Former Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt was let go, and Kirby Smart was hired as his replacement.

2017 four-star quarterback Jake Fromm has flipped his commitment from Alabama to UGA. One of the first recruiting moves by Smart and new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney was to offer the Rivals100 Crimson Tide quarterback commit. So he committed to Alabama. I am very thankful for the chance they gave me and I will forever be grateful for it. With that said, I am announcing my decommitment from the University of Alabama’s football program, and with much thought and prayers from my friends, coaches and most importantly, my family, I am so blessed and so thankful to announce the commitment to my hometown team.

“I think it’s something he’s been dealing with a while now, since he got offered by Georgia”, Lassiter said. In October, Fromm seemed to be a safe bet for the Tide.

Georgia finished tied in second place in the SEC East conference last season with a 5-3 conference record and is looking to reestablish itself as one of the dominant programs in both the SEC and in college football.

He’ll join a Georgia depth chart that is slated to include 2016 five-star quarterback recruit Jacob Eason, as well as Brice Ramsey, Nick Robinson and Sam Vaughn.

Fromm is coming off a phenomenal season in which he led the Houston County Bears to the state quarterfinals.

Fromm was nothing short of spectacular during the 2015 season. He compiled 4099 yards after completing 250 of 424 pass attempts, which resulted in an average of 315 yards per game, 36 touchdown passes, and only 6 interceptions.
