No other details, including the country where her partner traveled, were provided by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

The woman was pregnant at the time she had symptoms of the Zika virus, but the health district added after she gave birth to her child the baby tested negative for the virus.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued travel an advisory saying that pregnant women or women who are trying to become pregnant should defer or cancel their travel to the affected areas.

The primary mosquito that transmits Zika isn’t established in Ohio.

OH has had five Zika cases, all in overseas travelers.

“There is no public health risk because the woman was exposed to mosquitoes in Honduras”, the state department of health statement indicated.

Peterson said there’s still a lot researchers don’t know about Zika virus, including how it is connected to microcephaly and whether it’s the reason researchers are seeing an uptick in a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

“While the transmission of Zika virus is primarily by the bite of an infected mosquito, evidence of sexual transmission from men to women is increasing”, said Dr. Pino.

At Utah State University, researchers with the Institute for Antiviral Research are among the first to begin trials in hopes of finding a compound that can treat or prevent the blood-borne virus. The sixth woman is still pregnant with no known complications.

A number Canadians and Americans who travelled to the endemic areas have been diagnosed with Zika after returning home.
