Donald Trump’s nomination isn’t inevitable (although it sure looks that way)

A total of 1,237 is required to secure the nomination.

Still, some Republican leaders believe a coordinated anti-Trump effort by Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio (even the promise of a joint ticket between them) could reverse things.

Bernie Sanders won in four states, meanwhile, stopping Clinton from running away with the nomination even as he fell further and further behind in the delegate count. And Trump’s share of the delegates declined from 66% before Tuesday to 49%.

Which means that a contested convention would probably have to decide the GOP nominee.

Kasich, who is aiming to win his home state of OH over Trump in a March 15 primary, applauded some of Romney’s critique of the businessman, but added that “I don’t think you beat Trump by personal attacks” and he is “not interested in name-calling”. Cruz also came first in Oklahoma, despite polls suggesting he would come in third.

THE nightmare of a Donald Trump presidency is closer than ever to coming true today after the big-haired buffoon won a string of victories in his fight to be the Republican candidate.

OSCAR BROCK “They’re all over the place. they’re- some of them are democrats, some are independents, some of them republican …all of them are frustrated they haven’t had a voice in government in a long, long time”.

Faced with a party in turmoil over his ideas to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, deport 11 million illegal immigrants and bar Muslims from entering the country, Trump declared he had expanded the party by drawing in disaffected blue-collar Democrats who like his tough-on-trade rhetoric.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich almost pulled off an upset over Trump in Vermont, but would finish the night with no actual victories.

While pundits have pointed to Trump’s KKK dodge as evidence that the Republican front-runner is riling up racist elements in the party, CPAC attendees saw it differently.

And it was a Super Tuesday indeed for Hillary Clinton. “Sanders has at least 410 delegates”. Voters have already seen this in his support of the non-abortion aspects of Planned Parenthood, and while some of the other candidates chastise Trump for these non-conservative values, he may be trying to appeal to voters who may be on the fence.

Rubio supporters said he can still win the nomination.

Texas was the biggest prize on Tuesday, with 155 delegates at stake. Cruz collected at least 144 delegates and Rubio picked up at least 71.

The procession of NY elected officials and labor leaders who preceded Clinton on stage were more blunt, warning of the threat Trump would pose if elected president. That would free up delegates, after a failed first-round ballot, to vote for any candidate.

Overall, Trump leads with 316 delegates and Cruz has 226.

Rubio, though, has enjoyed substantial support from fellow GOP lawmakers and is banking on a comeback in his home state on March 15 as well.
