Clinton, Trump cemented as 2016 leaders; Republicans desperate
Both Cruz and Rubio have a substantial number of delegates and a way to win the GOP nomination, said Evan Power, chairman of the Leon County Republican Party. Rubio won his first state last night, but he’s likely to lose Florida (though they said that about Virginia, and he overcame a 15% deficit in less than a week – and had Dr. Ben Carson pulled out yesterday and not today, things might even have been different).

Welcome to the Republican Party of 2016, where money means little, endorsements mean less and celebrity trumps experience every time. “We have to make America whole”, Clinton, who has built up a delegate cushion over her insurgent rival Bernie Sanders, said.
The real-estate mogul turned his sights on Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton after she also took seven wins, with Trump promising to “go after” Clinton.
Mr. Trump won seven of 11 contested states (three with less than 35 percent of the vote) to widen his delegate lead. The same applies to Texas, which Cruz won. The debate Thursday could see Rubio and Cruz ratchet up their fight for the not-Trump mantle, with Rubio clearly lagging right now in the race for second. We are seeing in state after state his numbers coming down, our numbers going up.
“Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction these days”, Ryan said, adding that he believes he would get along with Trump.
It’s important to take a moment and consider how big a vote of confidence that really is.
Christine Roe, Dan Lewis and Jillian Bliss all agree: a Republican needs to be in the White House.
“We are going to end sanctuary cities by cutting off taxpayer dollars and we are going to end welfare benefits for people here illegally”, Cruz said.
Graham and others may see that as the only way out of a Trump nomination, save the Donald’s own resignation. But Cruz pulled out victories in Texas, his home state, neighboring Oklahoma and Alaska. Or maybe as Cruz spokesman Ron Nehring wrote in an email, “Donald Trump as the nominee gives you President Hillary Clinton, a Democratic Senate and a Supreme Court that’s lost for a generation”.
After his disappointing performance, Rubio ended the day in Florida – a clear signal that he is banking on a win in his home state, which votes on March 15, the next major date in the primary cycle.
Can Trump still be beat? Rubio is third in the GOP delegate count. Marco Rubio won in Minnesota.

Republican strategists have expressed fear that in the general election, Mr Trump would struggle to win the support of suburban women and white-collar voters who might otherwise lean Republican but might recoil from his caustic and racially charged approach to politics. “His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe”, Romney says.
