Showrunner Ben Wexler announced the sad news on Twitter. “I could not be more proud of the work we all did”.

In the series, which premiered in the spring, they portrayed comedians coming from different generations and sensibilities who must figure out how to get along when paired in late-night sketch comedy show.

A remake of a Swedish series, The Comedians debuted to 878,000 viewers in live-same-day returns, but dropped to a paltry 306,000 same-day viewers by the end of its 13-episode run on June 25.

Several TV stars, including Betsy Brandt (“Breaking Bad”, “Masters of Sex”) and Jason O’Mara (“Life on Mars”, “Terra Nova”) tweeted out their regrets over the show’s cancellation.
