Pokemon GO GDC Session Canceled

“As much as we hate to disappoint those in the industry attending GDC, we feel our time and energy right now are best spent on making sure every aspect of the product is where we want it to be”, Hanke added.

Though, given the game has to do with catching Pokemon in the real world, we can’t say whether or not it will be active in your location. However, this particular cancellation is about a game we’ve been following for awhile now. According to instructions listed on the game’s Japanese website, Pokemon Go’s beta requires either iOS or Android, and all participants need a Google account to register. The session touts a talk from Niantic founder and CEO John Hanke, who planned to unveil the “unique vision for delivering a mobile Pokemon experience” to the masses that would take folks outside and treat them to both capturing and battling Pokemon in a real-world setting. This major official event was set to showcase gameplay and answer many lingering questions about what exactly this odd Pokemon-Ingress hybrid from Niantic would be.

Pokémon Go was announced in September 2015 for a 2016 release, but as another quarter arrives and a solid release date yet to be confirmed, it would seem the Niantic team are feeling the crunch. “The Pokemon Go field test program will give a limited number of users early access to the app. These users will have the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokemon Go experience for everyone prior to public launch”. One game we were pretty eager to see in action, and hopefully get some hands-on time with, was Niantic’s upcoming Pokemon GO title. There’s also a wearable watch-like device that can be used alongside the game.
