Fox’s Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump largely civil in debate

The next Republican debate will be held Thursday, March.

Trump has been highly critical of Kelly ever since she challenged him at the August 6 debate about his treatment of women. “Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

Rubio had hoped that his performance at the last debate would give him an edge on Trump, as he repeatedly sought to underscore Trump’s thin policy proposals.

That’s a departure from Trump’s brawl with the network ahead of the Iowa caucuses in January when he demanded that Kelly be ousted from the lineup because she, he said, had been unfair to him.

It was perhaps the most surreal moment yet in a presidential race that has already been dominated by unprecedented drama and personal attacks.

For Trump, whose success at attracting voters in the early states has triggered panic among establishment Republicans and some conservative groups, it could be an opportunity to show a new side as the most likely nominee, and further solidify support. “I know people are going to find that a bit hard to believe, but believe me, I am a unifier”.

How good is a degree from Trump University? “We’ll be sitting next to her and would obviously step in if needed, but it’s never needed”, he said. That’s what I want the headline to be on Friday.

Fittingly, Romney will reappear on the political stage from afar on Thursday.

“I don’t know what happened to him”, Trump said. “I could have said, ‘Mitt, drop to your knees.’ He would have dropped to his knees”.

It was Trump’s appearance on CNN, however, that got the most notice, when he called Kelly a “lightweight”. Notably, Trump has started talking about unifying the GOP.

But even as Romney and others try to lead the effort to stop Trump, the belated push may only reinforce the real estate mogul’s appeal as his supporters have already shown their deep loathing for establishment figures. She said thousands of plaintiffs in the case alleged that they were fleeced by Trump, and she read a U.S. Court of Appeals opinion that compared the aggrieved students to victims of Bernard Madoff’s financial scam. “I mean, you get the same answer over and over again”.

The debate comes as the GOP field is quickly winnowing. Anticipating another appearance on a debate stage with Donald Trump, Kelly says their public feud hasn’t affected her preparation and she doesn’t expect a renewal of hostilities with the Republican presidential front runner.

Trump doesn’t listen to the Republican Establishment, or to rivals like Cruz or Rubio or Kasich, or to other debate moderators.

The candidates met two days after Trump dominated the Super Tuesday contests, notching seven victories and picking up hundreds of new delegates.
