Kent’s Sports Authority store to remain open
The company said store closures should be completed within three months, pending court approval.

The Colorado-based sporting goods retailer will close down its store at Broadway Commons in Rochester, according to Consumerist, but its eight stores in the Twin Cities are not affected.
The company started liquidation sales on Friday for a lengthy list of store closures, including 25 in Texas, 19 in California and four in Oregon.
In an effort to restructure the business, Sports Authority will close 140 locations and two distribution centers in Denver and Chicago.
The sportswear maker said it is a “long-standing customer” of Sports Authority and plans to offset the impact of the bankruptcy through continued sales to the company and sales through other channels and customers.
Sports Authority is seeking to reorganize itself financially under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.
There is no expected effect on gift card balances or customers’ ability to use gift cards at stores or online at this time.

The company opened its newest store in Minnesota this past October, taking up residence on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.

Sports Authority has 14,500 full- and part-time employees with more than $1 billion in liabilities and assets between $500,000 and $1 billion.
