McGregor, Diaz almost brawl at UFC 196 press conference

On Thursday, McGregor referred to Diaz as a “scared little boy” and said his close-knit team of “gazelles” wouldn’t be able to save him this weekend.

Let’s take a look at how Conor McGregor could lose to Nate Diaz. At UFC 194, then-featherweight champ Jose Aldo taunted McGregor next to the scales by striking his signature weigh-in pose. It was clear that McGregor’s barbs were getting at Diaz, who grew increasingly flustered and struggled to muster replies that went beyond a barrage of expletives.

McGregor (19-2) was originally scheduled to fight Rafael Dos Anjos at the March 5 event, but the lightweight champion was forced out of the out after breaking his foot during a sparring session.

McGregor and Diaz were again involved in unpleasantries, hurling insults at each other on the stage and having to be separated by UFC president Dana White.

“I hold the key to the fight game”.

UFC 196 could have been a defining moment for the current featherweight kingpin as he was gunning to be the first simultaneous UFC multiple-time champion in two different weight divisions. “I’m hoping Nate Diaz makes this a fight”.

But there is no doubt that a potential fight between the two high-profile stars would be a ratings and pay-per-view bonanza.

“It’s going to play a big part for Conor as it did for me”, Fields told Off The Ball tonight, before discussing how hard it is to cut down to a lower weight. “It would be interesting to see if we could make that fight happen if the fans wanted to see it”. Come at me. But I hold the key. McGregor is known for spending his fight purses on luxury goods, especially a variety of expensive cars.
