That vulnerability, at its core, is hypocrisy.

Something is happening in the Republican Party that has not happened in living memory. “Are they small hands?” he said.

The Better Business Bureau doesn’t release details of its past ratings, but it did say Trump’s program had ratings that ranged from A+ to D-.

But what this week showed is that the Republican addiction to hypocrisy won’t be so easily defeated.

What about Trump? “He isn’t a conservative”, she said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of Trump’s toughest critics, nonetheless warned that trying to block him at a contested convention would be unfair. Like Romney, McCain is padlocking the barn door long after the horse began prancing down the street.

The opening question of the debate forced Trump to again respond to Romney’s accusations that the country would suffer with him as president – namely his domestic policy would lead to a recession and his foreign policy would make the country less safe.

But forget all that wonky stuff.

When you see stuff like this, it’s easy to see why Trump is able to engender so much love with certain kinds of conservatives.

Maybe, some Republicans say, his over-the-top campaign style is an act, and if successful, a President Trump would behave in a more dignified fashion.

For Rubio, getting sucked into Trump-style campaigning, the effect may just be to harm his image. Stephen Colbert called out the hypocrisy. Matt Lauer confronted Romney about this, and Romney admitted, “I was welcoming his endorsement”, but added, “there are a lot of folks who endorsed me I would not want to see as president”.

Pressed by Fox News Channel moderators about the name-calling that has gone on between him and Rubio in recent days, Trump immediately took issue with a characterization that the Florida senator had made about Trump’s “small hands”, and Rubio’s inference that another part of Trump’s anatomy matched that scale. “But that was always going to happen, however the primary season turned out”. And Trump, if he wanted to, could circumvent the laws by running a proxy, with the understanding that electors won this way would vote for him.

There’s nothing wrong with an elder party statesman coming out to denounce Trump, and I think the reception would be much better if it was given by someone like Ronald Reagan.

Fox News went hard on Donald Trump last night, using his own words against him. In other instances, he simply made up more facts. Sure, Trump’s economic policies don’t make sense. Even Romney’s plan to expand the military was awful because he never explained just how he’d pay for the new ships without causing the debt to rise (Cruz and Rubio haven’t explained how they’d increase military spending without off-setting cuts). Trump may talk about a big wall on the Mexican border, but Cruz revived the whole “missile defense” fantasy, known as “Star Wars”, that Republicans have been dwelling on for the past 35 years. He believes Cruz has an argument for emerging as the Trump alternative: He was the only candidate other than Trump to win multiple states on Super Tuesday, and he did defeat Trump convincingly in several states.

The entire Republican brand is built on bullshit.

After Romney forcefully condemned the current GOP front-runner in a speech Thursday, speculation spread that Romney was signaling his willingness to be considered as a last-minute savior, should none of the current candidates win the required number of delegates. They want the same things he does. Kasich said. “People say, wherever I go: ‘You seem to be the adult on stage'”.

Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have signaled a willingness to engage in a floor fight at the convention if Trump hasn’t clinched. Trump’s philosophy and core principles, such as they are – Nebraska Sen.

One woman, who declined to be named, said she now wasn’t planning to vote, because there’s no one left for her to support. If any other candidate were winning with such momentum, the GOP would right now be calling for remaining candidates to drop out of the race now, as they did with Romney in 2012.
