Trump declines to denounce David Duke and the KKK

Trump merely said, “I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK, I know nothing about what you’re even talking about with white supremacists or white supremacy”. In regard to David Duke’s support, he wrote, “I disavow”. Sure, the Donald did repeat the proper nouns in Tapper’s question – “David Duke”, “white supremacists” – verbatim, several times in the course of the interview.

The claim against Trump is that he showed a lack of passion in his denouncement.

Tapper is referring to when Duke publicly declared his support for the Republican front-runner.

Duke told The Daily Beast on Sunday that he believes Trump “knows who I am” but might not know his political platform was a precursor to the businessman’s. “So give me a list of the groups and I’ll let you know”, Trump said.

“Really sad”, Ted Cruz tweeted.

Trump’s top Republican competitors jumped on the CNN remarks. “We should all agree, racism is wrong, KKK is abhorrent”, he wrote.

This is part of his pattern, be it insulting Megyn Kelly or refusing to denounce white supremacists or proposing a total ban on Muslims entering the United States.

It has been a controversial weekend for Trump, who was criticised for failing to condemn the Ku Klux Klan and made an embarrassing misstep when he retweeted a Benito Mussolini quote. “The hatefulness of their ideas and actions are well-established and should be condemned forcefully by all responsible political leaders”.

This time, he brought along New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who endorsed Trump’s candidacy late last week.

In 2000, when he ended his presidential campaign, Trump cited Duke’s participation in the Reform Party as one reason he no longer wanted the party’s nomination.

“Just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK?” He pledged to protect citizens’ Second Amendment rights, to repeal Common Core and President Barack Obama’s signature health care law, to work to keep companies from moving out of the country, to clamp down on illegal immigration and to build a wall along the border of Mexico.

“I know nothing about David Duke”.

Trump responded to the furor against him, saying in a tweet on Wednesday, “The special interests and people who control our politicians (puppets) are spending $25 million on misleading and fraudulent T.V. ads on me”. “You wouldn’t want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about”.

Last year, a technology blog unearthed a 1927 news report stating that Fred Trump – Donald Trump’s father – was one of seven men arrested during clashes between 1,000 KKK members and 100 police officers in Queens, New York.

Trump was pressed about the issue and said he would need to look at any group to determine his position.

What’s even more embarrassing, is that the Twitter account was actually set up by Gawker to post quotes from the fascist, which it attributes to Trump. And many instructors were bankrupt real estate investors.

Huckabee’s daughter is a senior adviser on the Trump campaign.

“There are people who borrowed $36,000 to go to Trump University, and they’re suing now – $36,000 to go to a university that’s a fake school”, Rubio said.

“It was very clear, that question was also talked about in the form of groups”.

Scarborough’s comments come after he and his show have faced criticism for being too friendly with Trump.

Cruz jumped in, adding: “It’s a fraud case….” You wouldn’t want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. He can not decide whether or not to reject White Supremacists and a former KKK leader’s support. “I’m not saying I endorse everything about Trump, in fact I haven’t formally endorsed him”.
