In his over an hour-long speech, Modi, however, didn’t speak about raging issues like crackdown on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and death of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad University that had stalled parliament for two days earlier this week.

“If I would have been present there (in the House), I would have responded to his statement. Obstructing Parliament’s functioning should be equated with an expression of lack of confidence in the parliamentary system itself – if not as a declaration of war on the people of the country”.

Mr Singhvi said merely because the Congress vice-president raises genuine concerns, as many as three senior ministers jumped in to deflect the questions asked to Mr Modi. Let us walk shoulder to shoulder and do some good work for the nation. Congress is anxious with our performance, suffering from inferiority complex. One MP said Fasal Bima Yojana is only for few districts. Because dalits and adivasis study there and you don’t want them to grow.
