Tottenham and Arsenal share the spoils in crunch derby

Alexis Sanchez earned Arsenal a point in a pulsating North London derby at White Hart Lane after Tottenham Hotspur had looked set to join Leicester City at the top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

In all competitions, the Gunners are without a win in four games, a run that also includes the FA Cup draw with second tier Hull and a home defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Wenger prefers the understated approach to the touchline and Pochettino does too, but both were more animated than usual here.

Francis Coquelin: Arsenal may have been second best for large periods before Coquelin’s sending-off, but they led when the Frenchman picked up his second yellow for bringing down Kane. This is now or never for Arsene Wenger. All his decisions worked to an extent but his side are still on a run of form that could ultimately cost them the title.

Pochettino welcomed Mousa Dembele back from a groin injury and started him alongside Eric Dier.

Coquelin’s sending off gave Wenger a decision to make: did he make a change, or not?

Brad: The game of the weekend and arguably the season for the north London pair.

“I think we have seen up front, Welbeck, Sanchez, much stronger today”, Wenger told BT Sport.

City, having played one game less, do have a fairly straight-forward run-in with the exception of United and Arsenal to visit the Etihad and a trip to Chelsea, therefore a top four spot should be achieved. Here, Sportsmail takes a look. “I have to say, it is always great when you have someone with the personality of Ospina where he pushes you every day in training and works hard”, the veteran goalkeeper said. Then it was their turn to have a go. “It’s hard to take”. A few injuries could again see them put out a below par team though and Liverpool will be buzzing after their win over Manchester City on Wednesday.

“In the first half we conceded a goal when we fully deserved to score, and because we managed the game from the beginning, but sometimes it’s hard”, the Argentinian said. Perhaps they needed a wake-up call and the manager will hope that the derby is coming in the right time to bring the best out of his players. “I am happy – not that we didn’t get the three points, but our performance was fantastic”.
