Conor McGregor will meet Nate Diaz in a welterweight battle, and Holly Holm is set to defend her UFC women’s bantamweight championship against Miesha Tate at UFC 196.
Instead, the decision by the cocky, charismatic McGregor to step up to welterweight to fight Diaz has opened up a myriad of possible title shots.
McGregor’s advantage with speed, reflexes and acrobatic kicks makes him a minus-550 (more than 5/1) favorite for Saturday’s bout. McGregor is a featherweight champion fighting a lightweight opponent at the welterweight limit Satur…
The Notorious was originally slated to square it off with UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos in the main event of UFC 196, but the Brazilian withdrew two weeks before the fight due to a foot injury. 5 with not one, but two main events you won’t want to miss.
“The main thing to succeed in the game is to either be me or fight me”. He looks bad. I’m sure he feels awful. “I like the left uppercut, although he has the height and the range, I still like that rear uppercut”, McGregor said.
Facing off against each other a day ahead of the Saturday night fight in Las Vegas, Diaz feigned a lunge at the featherweight champion.
But what’s even more interesting is the paltry sum that Miesha Tate will leave with, even if she upsets the odds and dethrones “The Preacher’s Daughter” – Tate is on a $45,000 to show/$45,000 to win rate on Saturday night. As far as styles are concerned, Diaz needs this fight on the mat, and McGregor needs a knockout.
McGregor added: “I’m all about them numbers, Gareth”. While I don’t think Diaz has more than a puncher’s chance in this one, I think he should be able to make it past the first five minutes based on toughness alone. “I’m having a great time”.
Jake Shields, a former UFC fighter and longtime teammate of Diaz, was sitting in the front row and jumped on stage, as did Nate’s older brother Nick and professional kickboxer Joe Schilling.

Conor McGregor expects to pick up an eight-figure sum from his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 196. “So he put a flame out in front of him and I quickly snatched it and broke his wrist”.
