Hundreds of Ukrainian protesters gathered outside the Russian embassy in Kiev on Sunday to demand the release of a hunger-striking Ukrainian pilot, and pelted the mission with eggs, AFP reported.

After Sunday’s rally, several hundred protesters reached the Russian Embassy, where they burned a Russian flag and threw eggs at the building and at an effigy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which had a sign reading “killer” around its neck.
Several embassy windows were broken during the protest. He said the attackers were clearly well equipped and the attack had been staged.
The rallies were held in Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Zaporozhye, Kherson and other cities.
Kiev police said it had started a criminal investigation into the case which it preliminarily described as hooliganism.
The next day the judge refused to give Savchenko an opportunity to present her last plea.
Others, like Viktoriya Ivanenko, a 33-year-old university lecturer, expressed fears that the aviator may die.
Ms Savchenko has become a heroine in Ukraine and is seen as a symbol of the country’s resistance against Russian Federation.
Mr Polozov said that Russian human rights ombudsman Ella Pamfilova had informed Savchenko’s sister Vera of her condition after her representatives visited her in a detention centre. The protesters were carrying Savchenko’s portraits and posters with anti-Russian slogans.
Even Savchenko’s relatives think she will stick to her fast.
People across Ukraine took to the streets to support Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko, imprisoned in Russian Federation on false murder charges.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined this week to comment on Savchenko’s hunger strike, saying the issue was not on the Kremlin agenda.
