When Rubio faulted Trump’s businesses for manufacturing clothing in China and Mexico rather than the U.S., Trump retorted, “This little guy has lied so much about my record”.
Similar policy wins were obtained by Trump over his GOP rivals on immigration (52% vs. 25% for Rubio and 18% for Cruz), national security (46% vs. 24% for Rubio and 22% for Cruz), and health care (44%, vs. 23% for Rubio and 22% for Cruz). “And let’s be clear, nothing I have ever said comes anything close to what Donald Trump says regularly on a daily and routine basis”.

The attacks were flying so thick and fast that, at one point, Cruz employed a favorite debating tactic of former candidate Chris Christie, appealing directly to the audience.
When asked about that seeming contradiction, Rubio said he doesn’t want to “choose between the lesser of two bad choices” – that is, Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, whom Rubio characterized as “a danger to our country”.
Rubio spoke to several shows the morning after the debate, including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, where he said he regretted “the way the campaign has become”.
After disparaging Trump, Romney urged OH voters to back Kasich and voters in Florida to support Rubio, which would result in a brokered convention.
