The Hello singer took away four gongs at the star-studded event at the O2, winning British female solo artist, the Brits global success award, British single and British album for 25.
Adele closed the ceremony with a rendition of “When We Were Young”, performed before a backdrop of glittering panels resembling one of Yayoi Kusama’s mirrored “Infinity Rooms”.
The Hello singer acknowledged her other nominees and then added: “I’d like to take a quick second to thank my management and my record label for embracing the fact I’m a woman and being encouraged by it and I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha”.
Bjork was named global female artist and accepted the prize via video while wearing a typically unusual outfit. “You’re not f****** bored of me”.
British rock band Coldplay grabbed the “Best British Group Award” whereas Catfish and the Bottlemen won the “Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act”.
“I’m really sorry for the ugly cry face too”, she said before thanking her partner, Simon Konecki, who is also the father of her three-year-old son, Angelo.
She was the only artist or group to receive more than one award at the ceremony.
She added backstage, “I feel a bit worn out, emotionally. Everyone has their ups and downs”. I was hoping to win one but to get that many was incredible and very lovely.
Similarly the best International Group prize went to Tame Impala, whose “Let it Happen” is a provocative video of a businessman apparently having a heart attack in an airport lounge.
Rihanna reunited with her ex – who she has dated on and off for the past few years – as they reunited to perform their new single Work, which is already setting the charts alight.
Before the show, The Hello singer, was listed amongst an exciting roster of performers set to grace the stage, including Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Little Mix and more.
All they had to do for that reaction to come out was get Louis and Liam Payne to announce that she’s won the British Female Solo award.
A slew of big names took the stage for live performances during the ceremony, held at London’s O2 Arena.
