Colts’ Dwayne Allen: Re-signs with Colts
The Colts will probably allow talented tight end Colby Fleener to leave via free agency on Wednesday as he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Per a league source, the Colts and tight end Dwayne Allen have worked out a four-year, $29.4 million deal. Allen and all impending free agents were permitted to engage in conversations with prospective suitors as of noon on Monday, raising the stakes for the Colts.
Josina Anderson passed along a quote from Allen: “I knew this was home and with their offer they confirmed that to me”.
With Luck coming back and the Colts looking to bounce back into a playoff contender, keeping Allen around makes sense for them.
Although the tight end has missed 21 games over his last three seasons, Allen has been a reliable option for quarterback Andrew Luck. Allen has also appeared in four postseason contests (three starts) and collected 15 receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown.
Allen caught 16 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown last season.
Allen, 25, was a third-round pick in 2012 out of Clemson.

General manager Ryan Grigson recently said it would be hard for the Colts to retain both Allen and Fleener, so it’s anybody’s guess whether Fleener’s time with the team is drawing to an end. He had 16 catches previous year. “Besides the broad skill set and overall talent level he brings, Dwayne’s tenacity and physicality has always been what has set him apart from the beginning”.
