Defense attorneys told the court that it was a “freak occurrence” that the hotel couldn’t have prevented, and that Barrett was exclusively to blame for the offence.
Lawyers for the hotel argued that the responsibility was exclusively Barrett’s and there was no way the hotel could have foreseen what he did. “The support I’ve received from the people of Nashville has been overwhelming”. “I feel like if I can go and compete on ‘Dancing with the Stars” and make it to the finale, and host the show, and have all this stuff on my plate, then people will forget and, hopefully, I will forget”.
Andrews tearfully took the stand during the trial, telling the jury, “This happens every day of my life”. She said that victims around the world, sharing their stories has meant a great deal to the Fox Sports sportscaster. “The Nashville Marriott could’ve just called me and said, ‘We’re putting this man that requested to be next to you, is this OK?’ And I would’ve called the cops and we would’ve gotten him”. They continued on, stating that Andrews could not have been severely damaged by the filming, because she has benefited from the increased popularity and professional success that it has brought her, reports NBC News.
