The Swans were without their new manager Francesco Guidolin, who was admitted to a London hospital with a lung infection that has troubled him over the past week, but they took a turn for the better when Wayne Routledge side-footed home thirteen minutes before the interval to equalise.

Although they have the best head-to-head record with this season’s top four, Arsenal come from a disastrous week after they have lost three games in all competitions. Alexis Sanchez believes Arsenal sometimes “lack the hunger” to become Barclays Premier League champions this season.

“I think we made some mistakes that we normally do not make”, said Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino, who could not celebrate his 44th birthday with a win.
