Pakistan to witness year’s first partial solar eclipse
The longest duration of totality would be 4 minutes and 9 seconds.

The regions where a total solar eclipse will occur are Palembang, Palangkaraya, Palu, ternate and few of the Indonesian countries and the eclipse will be observed from the Pacific Ocean.
In India, during eclipses, people avoid food and water intake.
Magnitude is defined by astronomers as how much of the Sun is covered by Moon in a solar eclipse which, in other words, is how much of the solar diameter is covered by the moon.
Along with Kolkata, the major places where the eclipse will be in progress during the sunrise are Siliguri, Coochbehar, Guwahati, Puri, Chennai and Kanyakumari, the expert on celestial bodies said. From Pakistan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, none of the eclipse would be visible.
The solar eclipse will begin at 04:19am (PST) and it will reach its maximum point at 06:00am (PST) on March 9, 2016.
Areas in which Grahan will be visible: Australia, China, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Palau, Singapore, South Korea, Sri lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Indian ocean & North Pacific ocean.
The eclipse ends at Kolkata around 6:50 AM when the Sun will be at an height of only 12.8 degrees above the horizon. In some parts of North Eastern States, the eclipse will start after sunrise.
