Trump holds narrow lead over Kasich in Ohio

“Rubio claimed the 20 Puerto Rican delegates up for grabs Sunday; he already had the commitments of three at-large delegates there”, reports Real Clear Politics.

Fresh misgivings about Rubio’s path forward are the latest in a series of obstacles that threatens the Florida senator’s future in this roller-coaster Republican campaign, with a must-win March 15 primary looming in his home state.

For reference, Trump has won about 44% of the delegates thus far.

It capped a stormy week in which panicked Republican grandees trained their big guns on Trump, who has galvanized disaffected voters with an anti-immigrant, anti-free trade campaign filled with insults, attacks on minorities and mockery of the political establishment.

“On top of it all, Rubio has been a total no-show in the US Senate, with the worst voting record of all”, the ad said.

It was an expected win for Sanders, who enjoys strong backing in the region and hails from nearby Vermont.

“If Rubio can’t win Florida, he is dead meat”.

However, Trump’s campaign demonstrated strength in the South, a region Cruz’s campaign had pointed to as key to its strategy earlier in the race.

On the one hand, it provides the GOP with an opportunity to push the party to a different candidate and avoid the catastrophe for down-ballot races that many worry a Trump nomination will provoke.

Rosemary O’Hara, the newspaper’s editorial page editor, said in an interview with CNN’s Brooke Baldwin that it’s the first time the Sun-Sentinel hasn’t endorsed a presidential candidate. Instead of addressing the conference, Trump held a rally in Kansas, a state Texas Sen.

In three-quarters of U.S. states, the delegates who travel to the Republican convention to represent, say, Trump are picked among party activists without input from the candidate.

Asked again on Sunday whether he plans to do so after the March 15 set of primaries including Florida and OH – where Rubio and Kasich will be waging last stands in their home states – Romney demurred.

GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump harshly criticized rival Marco Rubio over his personal spending habits in a brutal TV ad released on Monday.

“If Ted’s the alternative to Trump, he’s at least a Republican conservative”, said Graham. Republican candidates John Kasich and Marco Rubio trailed with 12.2% and 8% respectively. But his victory won’t have much impact on Clinton’s substantial edge overall, thanks to her support among superdelegates – members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.

“I think a lot of people were surprised by how well Ted Cruz did”, Romney said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press. He said at this point in 2012, Mitt Romney seemed to be in a similar position to Trump, with an uphill climb to the magic number of delegates.
