Clinton scores win in Mississippi as four states vote in presidential race
Clinton and Sanders have clashed repeatedly in recent days over issues that are vital to MI voters.

“Thank you Mississippi!” Clinton and Trump posted in identical tweets.
Voting for primaries in Mississippi, Michigan and Idaho and the Hawaii caucuses is underway for the Republican presidential candidates.
He also emerged the victor of caucuses held in Hawaii.
Time is running out for Trump’s opponents to turn things around before the winner-takes-all states start to vote and the GOP front-runner racks up enough delegates to lock the nomination up before the convention.
Kasich says he did better in MI – finishing in third place closely behind Ted Cruz – than people expected he would do just weeks ago. Marco Rubio are likely to finish far behind. Ted Cruz, who carried the Idaho primary.
The Texas senator won handily in the deep red state. It’s a heavily-populated, diverse state that Democrats absolutely have to have in order to win the general election in November.
Trump said the record-breaking turnout his march to the Republican presidential nomination had produced is “absolutely unique and special”.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich also posted a strong showing and is in a close race for second with Texas Sen.
Trump was broadly popular across lots of groups, according to exit polls.
A shock win: Few predicted Tuesday night’s result.
Clinton’s MS win is definitely not a surprise; Clinton went into the primary with a polling average lead of more than 40 points in the state.
Hillary Clinton was victorious in the Democratic Mississippi primary, with 82 percent of the vote.
About 7 of 10 voters in Mississippi’s Democratic primary were African-American, and almost 9 in 10 backed Clinton. In the run-up to the primary, he blasted Clinton for her past support of trade pacts like the North American Free Trade Agreement, asserting that they put the lie to her newfound opposition to the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
“Michigan is the flawless kind of state for Sanders’ economic message”, said Susan Demos, editor and publisher of Inside Michigan Politics.
Bernie Sanders pulled off a close but surprising victory in MI, dealing a symbolic blow to the Clinton campaign. Clinton has a massive lead among those delegates. Sanders had blasted Clinton on trade in MI, and his win may prove that that strategy was successful.
“What tonight means is that the Bernie Sanders campaign, the people’s revolution that we’re talking about, the political revolution that we’re talking about, is strong in every part of the country”, Sanders said.
That there are 31 states left to vote certainly shows the race is far from over.
The question is what this does for Sanders. But Clinton, who won MS, padded her delegate lead and is now halfway to the number needed to clinch the nomination.
In the proportional system, margins often matter more than wins.
The contests came on what was dubbed Super Tuesday 2. Cruz is doing worse, winning only 34 percent.
Both candidates have focused on the Flint water crisis in their appearances in the MI, blaming the state government for failing to protect the city from lead-contaminated water.
So imagine this scenario: Kasich beats Rubio in MI.
The next big day for the field of Republicans is next Tuesday, March 15. It takes 1,237 delegates to win the GOP nomination.

“It has to happen here, and it has to happen now”, Rubio told supporters Tuesday during a rally in Sarasota. Sanders said from Miami Tuesday night where he is preparing for Wednesday’s Democratic debate there.
