A dozen Israelis, civilians and police officers, also were wounded in the knife and gun attacks that authorities in Tel Aviv said were carried out by Palestinians.

One person was killed and ten others injured in a terrorist stabbing spree at the Jaffa port, south of Tel Aviv, on Tuesday evening, according to initial reports, according to a report from Magen David Adom.
“This horrific act of violence has robbed our Vanderbilt family of a young hopeful life and all of the bright promise that he held for bettering our greater world”, said Vanderbilt Chancellor Nick Zeppos in an email to students, faculty and staff. A motorist responded by shooting toward the suspects, who fled by auto.
The shootings were the latest in a string of attacks coinciding with US Vice President Joe Biden’s arrival on Tuesday.
The attacks occurred shortly before Biden was set to touch down in Israel on a two-day visit where he will meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
Israeli police later said the man stabbed to death in Jaffa stabbing was American tourist. That incident occurred near the Damascus gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, the police spokesman said.
Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital said it received six victims, one in critical condition, two in moderate condition and two suffering from lighter wounds.
“This is the result so long as Israel does not believe in the two-state solution and ending its occupation”, the Fatah statement on Twitter read, referring to a future Palestinian state alongside Israel.
What that might mean for the Palestinian citizens of Israel, or residents of the West Bank who have lived under Israeli military occupation for 49 years, he did not say. A Palestinian man was seriously wounded in the shootout.
Many analysts say Palestinian frustration with Israeli settlement building in the West Bank, the complete lack of progress in peace efforts and their own fractured leadership have fed the unrest. Netanyahu’s office said it then informed the White House directly that Netanyahu would not be visiting. As he attempted to escape the scene, security forces engaged him in a firefight, during which he shot the second officer, police said.
In Petah Tikvah, a Palestinian followed an Israeli into a drinks store and stabbed him in the neck before being shot and killed.
“Let me say in no uncertain terms the U.S. condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts”.
Violence in Israel and the Palestinian territories since last October has killed 188 Palestinians and 28 Israelis.

That has included speculation the United States could break with traditional practice and support a UN resolution related to resolving the conflict, which Israel strongly opposes.
