Savidge and Vaughan managed to dive out of the way as the vehicle raced across the curb and came to a stop in the parking lot where they were standing.

SAN FRANCISCO- Two journalists covering Monday’s train derailment in Fremont almost nearly became part of the tragedy Tuesday as a careening auto drove right through their live report.
Alex Savidge’s morning got off to a very scary start.
As you saw in the video (above), Savidge wanted his family to know he was OK – but he also thanked Chip Vaughan, his photographer.
Out of instinct, Alex jumped to his right.
“I was turned the other way, and the photographer screamed at me to get out of the way, and I did”. Savidge posted on his Twitter feed that his heart was racing, but he was all right.
A little later, the reporter went back on air and he was visibly choked up about what had happened.

“I’m glad to be OK”, Savidge said in a Facebook video after the crash. Her license was taken away as the investigation continues.
