After being announced recently at MWC 2016, this week sees the widespread release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.
Giving some extra value to customers of the premium devices in India, Samsung is now adding a layer of concierge services in the My Galaxy app. Though they share much of the same hardware (including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM), the S7 Edge is now a larger phone – with a 5.5-inch display compared to the 5.1 inch S7.
We’re still waiting on the price plans being offered by local telcos and whether there’ll be special bundled-deals being offered by Maxis, Celcom and DiGi or if U Mobile will also choose to join in the S7 Edge preorders. It is expected that the South Korean company will launch the Exynos powered flagship smartphones in India. India will be among the first markets globally where the devices will be available for buy, signifying the country’s prominence among global tech majors.
On the camera front, both the phones come with a 12-megapixel rear (with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation) and 5-megapixel front shooter combo.
Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are finally releasing this week and we’ve been seeing a big uptick in the number of hands-on videos of the device popping up around the web.
The S7 comes with a 5.1-inch super AMOLED dispay with 2550 x 1440 pixels. Both phones will come sporting metal and glass designs like before.
Like LG, the Samsung has also integrated the Always On feature in Galaxy S7 device.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and have IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
