“Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will offer consumers the ultimate smartphone experience that set new benchmarks in the global mobile space, with cutting-edge design and extraordinary performance, a¿ Manu Sharma, director, mobile business, Samsung India Electronics added”. Samsung showcased the new phones at the MWC in Barcelona last month, and had also announced pre-bookings for the phones in US, Europe.
It is not yet clear how the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge will be priced in India, but it is likely to be in competition of the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6S. Those who pre-book the smartphones by March 17 will receive the Samsung Gear VR headset bundled for free. Samsung will also offer a “Double data” offer on Vodafone.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch display and measures around 7.9mm thick whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge with its 5.5-inch display is slimmer at 7.7mm thanks to the dual-edge curved display. Subsequently, a demonstration at Samsung’s Mobile World Congress booth showed just how deeply impressive the new cameras are, by getting visitors to snap pictures in a very dark room. The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch flat Quad HD Super AMOLED display while the Galaxy S7 Edge wields a larger 5.5-inch dual edge Quad HD Super AMOLED panel. The handset is IP68 water and dust resistant.
Like the Sony equivalent, Samsung’s sensor features the kind of Dual Pixel technology you normally see in DSLR cameras.
The processer and battery capacity of 3,000mAh in Galaxy S7 and 3,600mAh in Galaxy S7 Edge ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. Both the handsets support quick charging as well as wireless charging. The smartphone runs on an Octa core (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad), 64 bit processor and has a 4GB RAM.

Samsung has not confirmed whether it is using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 but there’s a good chance that India will get the Exynos 8890 processor.
