Eighteen is the magic number for Peyton Manning.

The seemingly unshakable Peyton Manning couldn’t help but let his voice get a little shaky as he reminisced about his 18-year National Football League career, but managed to crack a few jokes.

Elway thanked Manning for coming to Colorado for the second chapter of his brilliant career, saying he made his own job easier, noting that with Manning living here, free agents were basically asking Elway “where do I sign?”

“There were other players more talented, but there was no one who could outprepare me”, Manning said.

“Thank you P thank you 4 all the memories I love you man believe me I have a friend 4 life”.

Even though he received a text late last week to confirm Peyton’s retirement, Eli acknowledged that during last season he felt Peyton would call it a career once the Broncos’ Super Bowl run concluded.

“I’ll miss recapping the game with my dad, and checking to see if the Giants won, and calling Eli as we’re both on our team buses”, said Manning, whose mom and dad, along with brother Cooper, were sitting in the front row.

“The recovery process takes longer, and has a greater impact on your play than when you’re 33 or 35”.

“So it’s official I caught p money’s last pass wow what a blessing shoutout to the sheriff on a great career!” said receiver Bennie Fowler.

He spoke fondly of his years in Knoxville, saying, “19 years ago, I chose to finish my senior year at the University of Tennessee”.

“At an estimated cost of $750 million, there is absolutely no way Lucas Oil Stadium receives 50-percent financing from the public sector if not for the team’s turnaround in success during the Manning era”, Rishe said.

Peyton Manning said his goodbyes from Denver, but he spread his gratitude from New Orleans to the Rockies and every stop in between. Not wanting to be a distraction to his team, Manning had agreed to rehab his injured foot in closed workouts – though he managed to send Kubiak a not-so-subtle message while those workouts were being filmed.

“There has not been a guy who can say ‘I have done everything as quarterback can do (in the NFL)”, Elway said.

Beyond the Super Bowl wins, it was his actions off the field, which made Manning a beloved football champion.

And just because Manning is retiring from playing doesn’t necessarily mean he’s done with football.

“It’s sad that some people don’t understand the truth and the facts”.

His most recent playoff matchup against the Chargers came in 2013, and ended in a 24-7 victory on his way to a third super bowl appearance.
