Special Olympics World Games Google Logo Celebrates 47th Year Of Competition

More than 100 Special Olympics athletes and trainers who stayed at Pomona and Claremont McKenna colleges in preparation for the World Games, which begins this weekend, were treated to a farewell pep rally Friday morning. “It is a rare opportunity and one our community is deeply committed to supporting”.
In its 47th year since its inception, the Special Olympics World Games brings some of the world’s finest athletes with cognitive disabilities together and aims to provide them with a chance to play, to compete, and to grow.
BDSL spokesman Dean Carroll said the local athletes were competing at the top level of their sport.
Alternating between summer and winter Games, the Special Olympics World Games take place every two years., In 1968, the first global Special Olympics Summer Games were held in Chicago, Illinois, US. Following the Games, the e-learning tool entitled, “Sideline Care for the Special Olympics Athlete: Assessing the Unique Medical Needs of Special Olympics Athletes”, will be donated to Special Olympics global.

The venue was also used during 1932 and 1984 Olympics.
