Samsung says preorders for Galaxy S7 phones are stronger than expected

By Sukant Singh New Delhi, Mar.9: South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has said the seven new innovations on their flagship devices Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are unique and unmatched with any of the smartphones in the market including the iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Reviewers qualified the soon to be launched smartphones as evolutionary rather than revolutionary, due to the minor improvements the device offers compared with its predecessor, the Galaxy S6. “And when you come to the Un-carrier, you can upgrade the family to Samsung’s latest AND set everybody loose on our best Unlimited LTE family plan EVER for a steal”.

It shows a progression from the Galaxy S6 without deviating too far from the design that earned Samsung so much praise a year ago. Most importantly, however, Samsung has listened to its customers and brought back key features and made subtle improvements in all the right areas. As for the second phone, it must be a new line and purchased on AT&T Next 24.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge (cost Rs 48,900 / 56,900) hit Indian stores on March 18.

Other enhancements that were incorporated are the unbelievable battery-saving features such as the Active Display mode, which automatically dims the screen when the smartphone is not in use; and Doze mode, which puts the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to a deep sleep and turns off the applications in the background. The Nexus 6P (at 518ppi) does not have a bad display to say the least, and it has more real estate to give to the user. The result is a 5.1-inch smartphone that feels more comfortable in the palm than the smaller-screen iPhone.

The teardown team at iFixit recently got their hands on a Galaxy S7 and have published their findings for all to see.

Forbes, however, identified one “serious performance problem” with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge: inconsistency in processor models and speeds, depending upon where the devices are sold.

Both phones have some sort of fast/quick charging technology.

T-Mobile has not officially announced this BOGOF deal; however, it is plausible, considering the carrier has done many such deals in the past. While the Galaxy S7 is targeted towards the mainstream audience, the Nexus 6P has a niche consumer base, as has been the case with the entire Nexus smartphone range.

Putting another feather in its cap, Samsung debuted water resistance with the Galaxy S7, making it one of the few flagship smartphones to have this feature.

Galaxy S7 comes with a 12 Megapixel F1.7 rear camera with LED flash. T-Mobile customers who preordered their S7 or S7 Edge devices are also eligible for the promotion. As we explained in our early preview, Samsung’s latest camera has larger, brighter pixels coupled with dual photodiode pixel autofocus.
