Miesha Tate Is Finally on Top – But Can She Beat Ronda Rousey?

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Holly Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) said that she would love to get a women’s bantamweight title rematch with Miesha Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) after her fifth-round submission loss to her at UFC 196.

It’s a cliche as old as the UFC itself, but part of what makes MMA so fascinating is the fact that a fighter like Holm can look unbeatable against a champion like Rousey but her skill set just doesn’t translate into the same sort of dominance against a scrapper like Miesha Tate.

UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is questioning whether Ronda Rousey is focused on their next fight or having a baby, according to TMZ Sports.

“I’m ready to go as soon as they’re ready to give me a fight”.

McGregor said he struggled to deal with the fact Diaz continued to fight so strongly after being on the end of his blows – something that wouldn’t normally happen in the featherweight division. “Whoever wins tonight will fight Ronda for the title”.

The former champion didn’t watch Saturday’s fight, so she didn’t know her next opponent until White relayed that information to her. And she said, well it looks like I got to get back to work.

“People are nuts, are you kidding me?”, White said about people thinking he’d be upset.

“I want to fight Miesha tomorrow”.

When Holm was given a shot at the bantamweight title in November, Tate considered retirement. Tate stayed on her and sunk in a rear naked choke.

“I don’t know if she’ll ever come back the same, but I have proven I can come back from adversity and I do come back and I will come back and there’s no one in this sport that can break me”.

Tate’s first title defense will be against Rousey later this year.

When she desperately tried to break free, front flipping to the ground, Tate latched on as Holm went out on her shield, refusing to tap before being choked out cold.

In the first round, Connor McGregor did as he had promised and took the fight to Nate Diaz. “I still need to eat a few cupcakes before I think about my next fight”.

Holm came back strong in the third round, defending well against takedowns and scoring with clean effective punching.

They’ve met in the octagon on two separate occasions – both victories for Rousey, coached opposing teams on The Ultimate Fighter and spewed insults at each other from the very first time they met. “You will always be a champion in my eyes”, Tate expressed.

She will probably never live down the fact that hubris made her attempt to take on a world boxing champion at her own game when she could have made the fight easier by playing to her own strengths as a judo champion.
