Hope’s Erin Herrmann qualifies for NCAA Division III Indoor T&F nationals

The Tigers will be arriving at the Birmingham Crossplex in Friday’s opener with their share of firepower in the qualifying rounds on the track as they feature an NCAA leader, two No. 2-ranked performers nationally and the reigning NCAA Outdoor Champion 4×400-meter relay team that are poised to contend for NCAA event titles during the meet. He sealed his spot in the field by producing a lifetime-best leap of 7.82 meters (25-8) in a runner-up finish at the ACC Indoor Championships two weeks ago. McClinton is seeded 15th in weight throw for NCAAs with her top mark of 20.96m.

The NCAA Division I Indoor Championships will be broadcast live beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN 3. This will be the first time for both athletes to compete in an individual event at indoor nationals as the duo previously competed as part of GU’s DMR.

Although this is the NCAA Indoor Championships, Green is taking the same approach as he would for any other meet.

Athletes which ranked in the top 16 individually and the top 12 relay teams qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) will compete in the 3,000-meter run for the fourth-straight year.

“I want to finish higher than I did previous year in the 5K”, said Murphy, who was third in the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall.

Many members contributed to the win with standout performances, including sophomore Garrett O’Toole in the mile, senior Greg Caldwell in the 60-meter hurdles, junior Chris and sophomore Mitchel Charles in shot put, junior Ray Mennin in the 400 and freshman Charles Volker in the 60m dash.

On Saturday, Latham will also get her crack at breaking the school record in the triple jump for the fourth time this season. She also earned All-MIAA honors. Ridderhoff qualified for the 60 hurdles, and Ehrenberg was the lone field-event qualifier as she made it in the pole vault.

He is the school’s first NCAA Indoor National Championships qualifier in his event since 1982. Schuetz is the 11-fastest 800-meter runner in the field with a seasonal-best and indoor personal-best time of 2:04.05 to her credit this season. The jump was protested, her coach said, prompting the NCAA to review her second-place finish in the long jump.

Georgetown’s depth is showcased in the DMR as the Hoyas are the only team in the country to have recorded two times among the fastest 12 in the country this season, owning the eighth- and 11th-fastest, with only two consistent members on each foursome in White and Bile. Central is the only Iowa Conference school ranked again this week.

“We have great people on the track team, and we’re looking to do damage outdoors and hopefully go to nationals, especially since the end of the season was the best ever in history”, he noted.
