Samsung: Galaxy S7 Could Be Our Most Popular Smartphone Yet

Samsung announced its newest Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, as expected, will be going on sale in nearly 60 countries including Australia, Europe, Korea, Singapore, and the United States starting Friday. Customers will receive up to $695 in bill credits for the free phone spread out over 30 monthly bills for the second device, according to the company.

After the critical and commercial disappointment that was the Galaxy S5 and the largely transitional, yet much-improved Galaxy S6, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 appears to be the legitimate iPhone-beater and best smartphone of 2016.

Manu Sharma, director mobile at Samsung India, said along with curated services, S7 customers will get to jump the queue at around 400 service centres and will also have pickup and drop facility with the option of getting a standby device if needed. On Amazon US, the Galaxy S7 for $787.96 which converts to Rs 53,029, which is a gulf of around Rs 4,000 in India’s favour. These two devices were unveiled at the recently concluded MWC in Barcelona and Samsung has brought these devices very fast in India keeping inview of its popularity in this market. Both devices have seen overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, who have praised the industrial design, camera and display quality. After all, the Galaxy S6 edge is a fairly compact device, easily fitting in even tighter pockets.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Exynos 8890 chipset. Customers opting for Galaxy S7 can have the smartphone without any downpayment but S7 Edge buyers will have to pay $59.99 upfront.

“With class-leading camera technology, a longer-lasting battery, cutting edge processors and optimisation for gaming are just some features which make these the most innovative smartphones you’ve ever owned”, he added. Certain features, however, were cited as easy to access and replace, such as the antennas, wireless charging coil, and bottom speaker.
