Every day brings a new bombshell revelation in the scandal around Gov. Rick Snyder’s role in first creating the Flint water crisis and then failing to do anything about it.

The river water which was more caustic did not get proper treatment before being supplied to homes.

Immediately following the USCM Winter Meeting in January, Conference of Mayors President and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake asked that former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin – a national expert on water investment – and USCM CEO & Executive Director Tom Cochran co-lead a mission to Flint in early February.

Snyder’s staff falsely claimed that the Flint City Council approved the switch to Flint River water when in fact it did no such thing and the administration admitted that in private emails. Flint water customers are expected to get an average of $600.

The problem occurred after the city switched its water source about two years ago to cut costs.
