The Broncos, who lost Peyton Manning to retirement and Brock Osweiler to free agency, have acquired quarterback Mark Sanchez from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2017.

General manager John Elway made an effort to keep Broncos fans from gathering their pitch forks and torches and marching on the streets of Denver in revolt, tweeting that Sanchez “brings veteran leadership & will compete”, and this is the key part …
Following the reported move, the Denver Broncos now find themselves in a situation where they only have one quarterback on their roster – backup Trevor Siemian. “This is the 1 step in our process”. According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Osweiler rejected Denver’s $16 million-per-year offer because he took his benching “personally”. He’ll count $4.5 million against the cap in 2016 and be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the campaign, per Spotrac.
Sanchez hasn’t been a starter since 2012, but played in three games for the Eagles last season, in which he threw for a combined 616 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Of course, Sanchez will have to win the starting job in Denver and Elway isn’t done addressing his QB needs.
Elway isn’t just scrambling to replace his iconic quarterback.

Or will he take a shot at the draft, knowing full well that the top prospects will most likely be gone by the time the Broncos pick with the final selection of the first round?
