Most of US set to return to daylight savings time Sunday
The beginning of daylight-saving time goes into effect Sunday and everyone is reminded to set their clock forward one hour beginning at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Meanwhile, as more and more of our devices automatically adjust to the time change, there’s one manual task to consider: Fire departments across the country are asking residents to check the batteries in their smoke alarms tonight.
This year’s time change coincides with the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Awareness Week, so it’s a fitting occasion to give your sleep habits a quick reboot. “It may mean that people who are already vulnerable to heart disease may be at greater risk right after sudden time changes”.
Get plenty of sunlight once you are awake.
In 2005, President George W. Bush extended the daylight saving time for an extra four weeks through an energy bill. Tomorrow night, Saturday, March 12, most responsible Americans set their clocks ahead and kiss goodbye (or goodnight) the hour we won’t see again until November.
Meanwhile, as another time change loomed, an assortment of Napans last week expressed varying levels of support for the status quo. The act allows states and territories to opt out of Daylight Saving Time so the act is somewhat misnamed.
People should stay away from objects with bright lights, such as smartphones, tablets and computers screens, during the evenings leading up to the start of daylight saving time as these could affect the body’s adjustment to the shift.
Let’s leave the farmers out of this, okay?
Ready or not, daylight saving time starts at 2 a.m. Sunday.
The idea of Daylight Saving Time, or as it is referred to in some places “Summer Time”, dates back to Benjamin Franklin, though the USA didn’t first implement it until World War I to save fuel by reducing the need to use artificial lighting. We lose an hour of sleep, balancing out that extra hour gained in the autumn.
CYBER LOAFING: In 2012, a Journal of Applied Psychology study found cyberloafing – surfing the web at work – increased in more than 200 metropolitan US regions during the first Monday after Daylight Saving Time in the spring, compared with Mondays directly before and a week after the switch.
It will then have the correct time when you awaken on Sunday morning.

Efforts to kill off daylight saving time are almost as old as the time shift itself, and even today, some are trying to get it repealed.
