Peyton Manning reflects on 18-year career as an National Football League quarterback
Manning, whose voice was thick was emotion, reflected on his career and some of the moments that helped him on his incredible career.

A stomach bug kept New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning from appearing in Denver for Peyton Manning’s retirement announcement Monday, but that didn’t stop him from honoring his big brother’s legacy. “Due to some good genes, I’m smart enough to know those lessons can enrich who I am and where I go from here”.

A series of neck surgeries led to his departure to Denver, where Manning reached the Super Bowl twice in four seasons. Manning, who will turn 40 later this month, was a Super Bowl MVP, a 14-time Pro Bowl selection and a seven-time first-team All-Pro.
Manning said that his relentless preparation for the game, which involved hours of watching game tapes, taking meticulous notes and exhausting practice habits all were “about one thing: reverence for the game. Eighteen’s a good number. and today I retire from football”, Manning said, a reference to his jersey number in an emotional farewell to football as he choked up at the podium in Englewood, Colo.
History will show the quarterback was in the NFL 18 seasons, made four Super Bowl trips with two titles, set a mountain of records and earned a place on football’s Mount Rushmore. “There were other players more talented, but there was no one who could outprepare me”.
“After 18 years it’s time”, Manning concluded to enthusiastic applause.
Manning said he took the extra time to make the decision so as to not take the focus away from his team’s win.
Peyton Manning has called it quits.
According to the lawsuit, Naughright, the first female associate trainer at UT, reported to the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Knoxville that Manning had “sat on her face” while she was assessing an injury.
Manning said that the words of Unitas, who died in 2002, stayed with him.
Manning said he plans to play some golf with his brothers while mulling his future plans.
Manning said he gave the National Football League his all.

Manning said nothing is going to overshadow this “joyous day”, especially not something that happened decades ago. “I’m on record as being a sore loser”, Cam said to reporters that following Tuesday. The grind of it, the way we worked together for those three years, was really special and something I’ll always remember.
